1. What did you like the most about the TOEFL/SAT preparatory course at Havad?
A lot of things, the relationship with the teacher was really great and motivating for me, also I liked the material available and the availability of spaces to study and do simulated tests. I improved my speaking and enjoyed making a presentation in the SAT Marathon, and really liked some of the short stories I had to read.
2. What is the most challenging point in each of the tests and how did you manage to excel these difficulties?
I think there were basically two most challenging things and both were related to time: the speaking part of TOEFL and the SAT time regulation for the sections. To overcome these two points, I had to time my performances in every single exercise I made for the SAT or for the TOEFL's speaking part.
3. What do you think about the teacher's experience and methodology?
Totally crazy! I'm kidding! She was my greatest motivator during this time. I already talked about how I liked short stories and the SAT marathon, and I reinforce that she is a great teacher. But, not everything is awesome... in my opinion there could be some more accuracy about the essay correction.
4. What's the importance of the extra pedagogical resources (Conversation Club, Marathon, Lab practice) in your successful result in the exams?
Actually, I didn't use much of the extra class resources, but I guess the greater improvement I had outside the classroom was in my speaking. So, I guess it had more value when I took the TOEFL test, and did pretty well in the speaking part.
5. What is something about this course you´ll take with you?
I'll take with me the idea that even when you think you know something, there's actually a lot more to learn. When I started the course I thought I knew English grammar, but in fact I was just regular and had to practice a lot.
6. What is your advice for students who are preparing for these exams?
You must study and practice. In my opinion the preparation is 35% studying and 65% practicing. And don't wait to practice only in the classes, do every homework the teacher gives you.
